Focus Group Research Process
- Discussion guidelines for participators, developed with the aid of the focus group moderator.
- Advance screening is used to find and recruit the proper people to take part in a focus group.
- Schedule and location are arranged for the focus group discussion, and the panel of respondents are recruited.
- While the group is in session, the focus group moderator guides the participants in order to optimize the discussion
- Comprehensive notes are taken, including video and audio recordings.
- When the focus group comes to a close, the respondents are given a cash incentive for their participation.
- Using the transcripts, a report is written which includes the moderator’s conclusion and recommendations.
Can focus group market research benefit your business?
Whether or not focus groups are used as a stand-alone method, supplementary to a survey, or part of a multi-method project, Webhaptic Intelligence researchers primarily use focus groups to achieve the following:
- Delineating complex processes from the basics, for example when needing to understand a complicated buying process
- Identifying customer needs, in particular where there is a complex interaction of factors influencing behaviors and motives
- Understanding working practices, such as how a particular product is used
- Testing new products within a target market
- Exploring a concept with stimulus aids
- Identifying and examining issues of satisfaction for customers and stakeholders
- Understanding perceptions of brand and service elements associated with a brand
